Coma- Ring the Dore Bell!

First of all, I'd like to announce that... I'm back! Doesn't really matter why I left, but I'm back now and there are some changes. The first of which is that, I'm no longer doing drink reviews. they were, to be honest, too easy, not that I'm saying that ol' Topaz isn't to be respected for what he does, it's just, they were too easy for me. I decided that now I'm going to do flash game reviews. If you don't know what a flash game is, then you are roughly about half of our demographic. A flash game is usually a small game, while they aren't always. I won't bore you with the technological details (mainly because they would most likely be inaccurate) but they are little or big games that you most often play on a computer or smart phone (I think)

Now on to the topic of today's post: A semi-popular thematic flash game from atmos games called Coma. How should I break this down, how about since it's an thematic game, I do story, gameplay, and message. The last shall vary based on the genre of game. Now, for the review:

Story

Coma is a story about a boy who is in a coma and must escape. He doesn't know that, but the ominous writing on the walls and very odd scenery, along with the title, give you a bit of a clue. He also has to explore his conscience to free his sister, who has been trapped in a secret basement by our father. This of course is within the coma. The writing on the wall, constantly bombarding you with the message "ring the dore bell" confuses you, but you ignore eventually. you meet various people who tell you things that you don't quite understand at first, but once you realize what you need to do, some of it becomes apparent. It has quite a scary and intimidating story. You'll still go to sleep at night, but it'll make you think a lot, and about things that you regularly wouldn't think about. And even though I call it scary, I still see it's whimsical and silly side, as well.

( By the way, there's no scoring system, it didn't really work.)

Gameplay

As for the fact that it is a flash game, it is very limited on what it can do based on gameplay. While some games are more complex with their gameplay, many are fairly simple, point and click interface type things. For this one, however, the latter applies. But since this game isn't really about gameplay, and more about story and message, it shall be exempt from my heavy hammer of judgment. In this game, you solve relatively simple puzzles to advance in the story, gathering little trinkets like a hook to pop a large clog in a drain.

Message

The message if this game can be something as simple as "don't trust something just because it was told you first" or as true to the heart as "Holding on to what's dear to you can help save your life and the ones around you" In no way is this game preachy with their message, it's actually quite subtle. I think that you can take just about any lesson you want to from this game, but my personal favorite is "within the darkness, the light shines brightest".

So, overall, as far as flash games go, this one isn't really half bad. It has a pretty solid story, the gameplay wasn't very important but it also wasn't boring, and it had a strong variety of messages. To be honest, I've replayed it about five times so that I could absorb as much information as I could from it. you can play the game here

I like it, but alas, it's not perfect, so I'll give it a B+. pretty good, but not quite reaching it's potential. If you have a suggestion as to what I should do for my next review, put it in the comments, but keep in mind that I only do computer flash games.

Don't Cha Want a Fanta? - Piña

First, I would like to say, thank you for all of the voting you guys did in choosing our next beverage! Now that I have gotten that out of the way, I have decided to write about the Pineapple flavoured Fanta. Pineapple, while not as uncommon as strawberry is not something that every brand does. Fanta really stepped out of the conventional sense for these cool flavors. I looked on google translate, and couldn't find a definition for "Fanta". This says that It is an original name for this kind of thing, cool. I looked at a local store and found it for $.86 for a 2 liter bottle! While an amazing deal, 7-11s have it for a higher price. So na-na-na-na-naaaa-na!

Taste

This has a very accurate taste in that it actually tastes like real pineapple! Something tells me that they went the extra mile for this one. I actually prefer this to any other beverage I have had in the past (except Virgil's, I love you Virgil's). And for some odd and obscure reason, it reminded me of Brazil and sere de bunda. So I think that it peaked a sort of interest in me that no other soda or otherwise has done before. That being said, I like this flavor a lot.

84/100

Texture

Now, I have a bit of a problem writing this, because, I bought this last week and have been sipping on it here and there, so it might have gone a little flat. But, from what I remember, it started off light, so it can't be much worse. It is actually pretty smooth, almost syrupy, in a distorted sort of sense. But either way, the correspondence with the flavor is great. By the by, for those of you who don't know, to me, flat soda is just juice. So texture doesn't really matter to me in any deal-breaking way. But, regardless, it still works well.

60/100

Packaging

My packaging is a little different. It took me a while for me to find it. I think that it's an older bottle (or newer) that isn't used mainstream anymore, (the pic attached is the one I have) one side in Spanish, the other in English, with a weird looking butterfly and flower I think it might be a my coke rewards promotional bottle. It's a little more cartoony and less mid-90s. since mine is'nt likely to be around for too long, I can't say much that will be too relevant in the future. so I'll leave it here.

52/100

Overall

I liked it a lot from the beginning, and all the way to the end. it was a kind of thing you have to try if you already haven't. So many things are so great about it it's hard to make out the flaws. it is definitely something I'll try again sometime.

Neuro: Happy Happy Joy Joy!

Sorry this is late guys and possible girls, I was partying with my posse and couldn't make it. This week I am sampling the nutritional supplement drink Neuro Bliss. This comes from a line of Mind-altering drinks(if you want to call it that). This is $2.69 at 7-11. It says it's supposed to "enhance mood, improve memory, increase ability to handle stress, regulate mood and appetite, and improve circulation". I can't tell whether it is working or not, but I do feel good. I see it has a bunch of chemicals that I can't identify, so I know it's good for me! It has crystalline fructose, so yeah.

Taste

It doesn't say what kind of flavor it is, so I'm gonna have to wing it on this one. It has a familiar taste, almost like bubble gum. It does, however have an after-taste at first. but other than that, it has no isolated flavor to pinpoint. It is good, but it could do better. It doesn't make me not want to drink it anymore. I don't have a lot else to say on it, other than, yeah.

63/100

Texture

It's lightly carbonated, so it is kind of like drinking ice-water. It doesn't really help nor hinder the progress of the experience. I can't say a whole lot on the subject of texture so I'll leave it here.

60/100

Packaging

Now, this is peculiar, It looks like a lava lamp, you don't see that at all often. "neuro" in all lowercase and your flavor in all caps. It's like a dude on mushrooms thought it up through the screams for the monsters to go away.

73/100

Overall Experience

I think that if you want it for a casual drink, don't, drink it as a way to get out of bed in the morning, or step away from the edge of that building( You know who you are). It doesn't have a noticeable affect, but if you look carefully, you'll notice it works well.

FINAL SCORE (not an average)

Calypso Lemonade: Fun and Fabulous!

Today I sampled Calypso Lemonade. I have never had this before but I have heard a lot about it. I was optimistic that it would be good. There are many flavors but I chose the Pineapple Passion one. I didn't catch the pricing but was less than two dollars+CRV and that's pretty good. My thoughts are as follows:

Taste

It's pretty good, considering that even though it says "Pineapple Passion" the ingredients have no trace of pineapple juice anywhere. I was disappointed at this fact. Even so, It was still fairly good tasting. It's promise of passion fruit however proved true, it was delicious. The lemon wasn't at all too sour as long as you take medium sips. Not big but not small. Not much else can be said other than my rating

66/100

Texture

As I said if you take small sips, you can taste the acidity. other than that, it isn't bad. It intentionally has pulp, not a lot, just enough to add to it's flavor and not get in the way. It's not even noticeable unless you look for it. It isn't at all bad. I have some wounds on my body and, to test the acidity, I poured some on it. It didn't burn. Not even a little.

78/100

Packaging

It says "Calypso" on the front with the "o" made to look like a lemon. Above it it says "Taste of the Islands" Below the "Calypso" it says the flavor. And in the background it has the fruits of the flavors on a glass bottle. On the cap it has lizard wearing sunglasses and an island hat with the bottle in his tail. It was fun and had a tropical feel to it (NAH REALLY?) and was kind of to be expected. I wasn't baffled or astonished by it but I wasn't mad at it.

58/100

Overall Experience

I wasn't hateful of it. I actually thought it was a tad whimsical and maybe a bit insane in a good way. I might have a bias because I have been sick for a while and found that NyQuil helps. So yeah.

SoBe Lifewater: 0 Calories, 0 Sweeteners of Any Kind, How is it Sweet?

I had a recent encounter with SoBe lifewater. This is something different than what I usually drink. I don't often drink energy drinks, if that's what you would call it. It has ginseng and citrimax, whatever that is. I don't know much about SoBe, but it seems that it is charismatic. It doesn't have sugar, Aspartame, or high-fructose corn syrup, so I have no idea how they sweetened it. It is still pretty sweet though.I went to three places to find it: 7-11, Vons, and K-MART. I did not find it at 7-11, but they do have other SoBe products. Vons has it for $1.69+CRV and K-MART has it for $1.59+CRV. A great deal seeing that I thought it was gonna be like $3-$4! Taste It is a little watery, but not so much that you care. I purchased the strawberry dragon-fruit flavor but there are 14 different flavors! 14! My impression was fun but serious at the same time which begs the question, "why is this so cheap, while maintaining such a youthful sophistication?" 68/100 Texture Now, as I said, it's a little watery, it's non-carbonated, so I can't tell if that's on purpose. It's not so watery that you want to stop drinking it, but watery enough to want to shake it. it keeps a consistent flavor/ texture throughout. Not much else can be said about it though. 43/100 Packaging It comes in a variety of colors depending on what flavor you get. The top half's base is white with Text and lizards in green the bottom half's base is the color of your flavor, with two lizards in a tiled white. Not too gimmicky, but intriguing nonetheless. 56/100 Overall Experience I was entertained by this, but not so much that I would do it all again. It was fun while it lasted, to say the least. FINAL SCORE 53/100

Virgil's Ginger Brew Real Cola

If you're reading this, it means that I didn't have an opportunity during the week to Post a Vlog. Okay, now everybody knows that I reviewed the cream soda flavored virgils, and are probably saying, " Well, I think you would only have to redo the taste section." Wrong. I do have to redo the taste, but also the rest of it except for the packaging and pricing.

Taste

Now, I drink this and say, " Well, that's delightful!" It makes me think of chrome and the future for some reason. It almost reminds me of Coca cola lime. So I looked on the ingredients, and saw, among other things, Lime juice! Now That's the definition of "Pleasant surprise"! In general, It was fun.

69/100 (get your laughs out)

Texture

While not nearly as smooth as cream soda flavor, it isn't as abrasive as Coke. That's it.

58/100

Overall Experience

I didn't hate it but I don't like to have to look around to find something that is essentially coke lime.

Virgil's Ginger Brew: The Good, the Bad, the HAIRY?

Virgil's Ginger brew has been around for a really long time. My parents said that it was really popular when they were young, so around the 60s-80s. Now, It was quite the journey to get this stuff. They only sell this stuff at certain health food stores. I have pinned down two places where you can get it. The first is probably not around your area, but if you have a Spencer's Fresh market around you, that's a great place to get it. They have a wide variety of flavors including orange, black cherry, regular, root beer, and cream soda. But where you probably will find it is at a trader Joe's. I couldn't find anything but root beer there, but that may just be me. At both establishments, it came in a four pack at $3.99+CRV which is pretty good.

Taste

Now I got both real cola and cream soda flavors for this review. The first I'm doing is Cream soda. It made me feel like a cowboy. I'm not even kidding. It made me feel like I jumped in a time machine to the old west during the industrial revolution. Like back to the future. It was a great experience.

78/100

Texture

This soda is SO smooth and SO creamy! It seems almost like drinking clouds. Almost every brewing herb/spice is from a different corner of this big blue and green ball. With

  • anise from Spain

  • licorice from France

  • vanilla (bourbon) from Madagascar

  • cinnamon from Ceylon

  • clove from Indonesia

  • wintergreen from China

  • sweet birch from the southern US

  • molasses from the US

  • nutmeg from Indonesia

  • pimento berry oil from Jamaica

  • balsam oil from Peru

  • cassia oil from China

The ingredients are as follows: Purified carbonated water, unbleached cane sugar, caramelized unrefined cane sugar, vanilla extract, And natural flavors. ARE YOU SERIOUS!?!?!?! That kind of simplicity shines right through with it's texture.

86/100

Packaging

The logo is two children sitting in wicker chairs sitting at a small table while a lumber-jack-esque, hairy man (possibly their father) serves them their beverage. It gives it a sense that your in "the old country". Maybe Russia or Sweden. All on a glass bottle. You don't see that too often at all. It says "Using Natural Ingredients, We Brew A Cream Soda So pure, So Rich And Creamy, You'll Swear It was Made In Heaven." The truth in that statement is so, so, ughh I can't think of a proper word to describe it. They're not lying on that one.

74/100

Overall experience

I literally cried tears of joy while drinking it the first time. I am not even lying. That's how good it makes me feel.
